Trim a video in your browser
Drag the start and end handles, or set them from the current frame, and keep only the part you want. Usually instant, because the picture is copied rather than re-encoded.
How to trim a video
- Drop your video above.
- Move the Start and End sliders, or play the video and press Start at current frame and End at current frame.
- Press Trim video and download the clip.
Why it's so fast
Video is stored as a chain of frames where most frames only describe what changed since the previous one. Cutting a video without re-encoding means copying that chain from the right starting point, which takes seconds even for long recordings. Only the few frames at the very start of your cut need to be rebuilt so the clip begins exactly where you chose.
Good to know
- The quality of the trimmed part is unchanged.
- MP4 and MOV files come out as MP4, WebM files stay WebM.
- Need to cut something out of the middle? Trim it twice, once for each part.

Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The file is read and processed inside this browser tab. It never leaves your computer, which is also why there is no size limit and no queue.
Will trimming reduce the quality?
No. The frames you keep are copied as they are.
Can I trim a 1 hour recording?
Yes. Long files are fine because nothing is uploaded and the picture is copied, not re-encoded.
